A New Media Gathering

Go 'Round the Canada Room and See What's New

The Canada Room, circular, and immediately adjacent to the Atrium and Council Chambers, will be hosting our "Breakthrough Circle" - exciting demonstrations of new media projects from York University and Seneca College.

Tentacles

See a new iPhone/iPod touch app that will debut the very next night as an interactive public gaming performance at Toronto's Nuit Blanche festival. Tentacles was co-developed by the Canadian Film Centre Media Lab, the OCAD Mobile Lab, and the York University Mobile Media Lab, with support from CONCERT and the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC).

CANVAS 3D Library

Using Mozilla's Firefox, Seneca researchers have created an Open Source Canvas Library that provides new media developers the ability to integrate 3D content within the normal 2D framework without the use of a plug-in.

SnapDragon AR

This York research demonstration will show how non-programmers can use this new drag and drop tool to easily overlay tactile interfaces with digital content - which will promote the wider use of Augmented Reality as an expressive medium.

The Spine

The Spine is a short 3D animated film by Oscar-winning director Chris Landreth produced with the participation of Seneca College animation students and faculty.

Project Workflow

This application allows raw motion capture data in 3D to be streamed via the web to remotely preview and select sections for games or film, vastly decereasing post-production costs.
