Daniel Mothersill is a serial entrepreneur and an Angel investor, keynote speaker, and lecturer with hands-on experience in industries ranging from manufacturing, to green technologies, to resources, to IT. In the last decade, he has founded and financed eight companies and spun off four of these as profitable enterprises.

Dan MothersillDaniel is immediate past-president and founding member of the National Angel Capital Organization (NACO) Life Member and Member of the Council of Leaders, and past President and past Director of the National Angel Organization – Ontario. He also serves as Distinguished Visiting Professor at Ryerson University, where he was instrumental in creating and funding Canada’s first alumni-based Angel investor network to finance student-initiated companies. In addition, Daniel advises a number of high-growth, early-stage companies, specializing in organizational and positioning strategy, financing approaches, communications, and investor relations.

As well, Daniel created and headed the Angel Network Program for Ontario’s Ministry of Research and Innovation. This program is dedicated to developing core standards for Angel investors in the province and seeding the formation and expansion of formal Angel groups. Through the National Angel Capital Organization, his program received $2.5 million from Ontario’s Premier to launch this initiative; it has so far been responsible for the founding and funding of twelve Angel investor groups. Daniel also worked with the Federal Government to roll out these standards and best practices across Canada. On an international level, Daniel has delivered presentations to business Angel audiences in France (Paris and Sophia Antipolis Angels), Spain (the European Business Angel Network or EBAN), Australia (AAAI), and the UK on process and paradigms for establishing Angel groups. His primers on Angel investing and business start-ups have been produced on four continents.

In association with the NACO, Daniel took 24 companies to London, UK, to present to European Angel investors in the first Canada/UK Cross-Border Co-Investment Summit. He is also working with the Canada Hong Kong Trade Association to encourage Asian investment in Canadian enterprises.
